alexwatt:

At the risk of promoting something I had no hand in, Lars and the Real Girl is amazing and available to stream on Netflix Instant.

Seconded. I watched this film tonight after years of being told how great it is. I read a review once that compared it to Harvey, maybe my favourite film, and the comparison is sound. People are better off – and just plain better – having seen it.

If loving Catfish: The TV Show wasn’t enough, I’ve started writing inadvertent fanfiction about it.

All the Movies I Saw This Year, From Best to Worst

I remember seeing someone do this on tumblr a year ago, and figured the ~120 hours I spent watching films this year (new ones, so I don’t have to include my 17 re-views of How to Lose Friends and Alienate People) might as well have some kind of purpose, however questionable.

If that weren’t enough (!!!), I’ve put two lines in the list. The first indicating the halfway point, the second indicating where I started disliking the movies. I’ll write a few things about some of the films at the end of this list, too, because I’m really smart and know a lot about this stuff.

I don’t recall who it is that I’ve aped this from, but let me know and I’ll gladly link to the original/take it down if you insist, but, come on.

  1. Take Shelter
  2. Seven Psychopaths
  3. Sound of my Voice
  4. Moonrise Kingdom
  5. Looper
  6. 21 Jump Street
  7. The Master
  8. The Avengers
  9. Kill List
  10. We Need to Talk About Kevin

Taste is subjective and there are no wrong answers in art, but anyone who didn’t love Seven Psychopaths is a heartless idiot.
